Five Minutes with Jack Cope
13 August 2024
Professional golfer and friend of Crew, Jack Cope, has been busy in recent years. Having won the England Men’s Amateur Championship in 2020 and then the St Andrew Links Trophy in 2021, last year saw the up-and-coming golfer officially turning professional , and winning his first championship on the PT Tour at the start of 2024 in Portugal while joining Crew as an ambassador.
We recently caught five minutes with Jack, chatting about everything from his biggest inspirations to his tips for any budding golfers. Of course, we had to ask him about his favourite Crew pieces too…

You’ve had an impressive start to your career, going pro last year. How did you first get into golf?
“I first got into golf through my Dad. He introduced me to the sport, and together we saw Tiger Woods win the 2005 Masters. I played all sorts of other sports before, but I cultivated my interest in golf the year after that.”
How do you prepare to get yourself in the zone ahead of a golf tournament?
“I prepare with lots of rest to make sure I’m as close to 100% fit as possible, along with adjusted practice for whatever challenge I might face that coming week.”
You’ve played on a number of golf courses now – do you have a favourite?
“It has to be the Old Course at St Andrews. I’ve got so many special memories there, and with the history of the place there’s a real aura to it.”

We know you’re just getting started, but what is your career highlight to date?
“My biggest personal highlight is winning the St Andrews Links Trophy as an amateur with one of my best friends caddying for me. I’ll never forget the phone call to my parents on the 18th green after winning in the playoff. They didn’t have any live updates so were waiting nervously!”
If you weren’t a pro golfer, what do you think you would be doing instead?
“If I wasn’t a golfer, I’d like to think I’d be a TV personality in something comedy related. I like to think I’ve got a healthy sense of humour so would be good to put that to use!”
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to an aspiring golfer?
“You have to work incredibly hard, as well as sacrifice some of the normalities that most young people experience when they’re growing up, like going out with friends and socialising. I’ve been lucky to manage this in moderation, but you can be left feeling like you’re missing out sometimes. You just have to keep the greater goal in mind.”

Who is your biggest sporting hero and why?
“My sporting hero is Tiger Woods. The man has changed the landscape of golf and brought the sport world renown, rather than it being just another “game”. His ability to bounce back time and time again is admirable and something that I take note of in my own career.”
We’ve loved seeing you out on the course in your Crew Clothing golf wear. What’s your favourite piece from the collection?
“I love the new Crew Sport Geo Print Polo Shirt, alongside the Classic Navy Golf Trousers. The shirt fits comfortably and looks extremely smart while not being totally conventional.”
When you’re taking a day off, what’s your go-to off-duty Crew outfit?
“I like the fit of the Classic Half Zip when I’m out for dinner or meeting up with friends. It’s a smart casual look that ticks the boxes in multiple social settings.”
We’re so excited to be following you early in your career. Can you give us the inside scoop on the next couple of years – what’s next for Jack Cope?
“I’m going to keep pushing to achieve my dream of being one of the best players in the world. Lots of hard work and dedication while keeping the end goal in sight. I just have to be patient!”
