Our Store’s Recommend: A local’s guide to Reigate

21 June 2024

A tasty treat

For those with a sweet tooth, Chalk Hills Bakery on Bell Street is a must-visit. This lovely shop and café offer coffee, cakes, pastries, and even beer. It's always busy and popular with the locals.

Wine and dine

If you're looking for a great dining option, Ali recommends Cullenders Parkside for lunch and dinner. Located just opposite the park on Bell Street, it's the perfect spot to refuel after a walk and enjoy some delicious cocktails. And for a spot of shopping, don't forget to pop into our store to treat yourself to something new from Crew. Enjoy!

Enjoy the outdoors

The great thing about Reigate is that there's always something to do, no matter the weather. Another highlight of Reigate is Priory Park – a standout spot known for its wide-open spaces and unique features. Whether you're interested in picturesque lakes, woodland walks, or an adventure playground for the kids, this park has something for everyone.

There are also various sports facilities and clubs, including tennis courts, football pitches, multi-sport courts, golf and rugby clubs, a skateboard park, and a lovely picnic area. Plus, the park hosts park runs every Saturday for adults and Sundays for kids!

Hidden historical gem

If you're in the mood for a dose of culture and history, Crew store manager, Ali, suggests exploring the Reigate Caves. These caves, originally old sand mines, offer a fascinating journey through a labyrinth of tunnels carved out over centuries from soft sandstone. The town's underground mysteries are waiting to be explored.

Finish with a drink

Beer drinkers, you're in luck. Reigate sits on the historical pilgrimage route from Winchester to Canterbury, with records of beer being brewed here for hundreds of years. Pilgrim Brewery, a family-run business known for brewing some of the finest beers, is in the heart of Reigate. Established in 1982, it's the oldest craft brewery in the Southeast. If beer is your drink of choice, stop by for a pint and some entertainment.
