Country Escape: Visit Dartmoor National Park

Covering a vast 368 square miles, Dartmoor is the largest open moorland in southern England, with the area being protected with National Park status since 1951. Its rugged terrain made up of grassland, river valleys, farmland and granite tors, means that there are endless sights to visit.

One of which is Haytor. Situated on the South-Eastern edge of Dartmoor, Haytor’s imposing granite rocks are positioned high-above the landscape, with breathtaking views across the moorland as well as the South-West coastline. For ramblers, it’s an ideal spot and the perfect day out – just remember to take a camera ready to capture the stunning panoramic views when you reach the top! Or for the history lovers, Castle Drogo is another must-see. Thought to be one of the last castles to be built in England, with gardens, the house and surrounding walks to be explored. Positioned on the edge of Dartmoor within the idyllic Teign Gorge, it’s a great family day out.

Coastal Retreat: Our hometown of Salcombe

Biased, we know, but for us nothing beats Salcombe as being the ultimate costal staycation in the South-West. Our charming little hometown is surrounded by beautiful coastland, with picturesque coves and beaches, as well as a quaint seaside town – it really is no wonder that Salcombe is part of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Whilst you’re there, pop by our Crew store and treat yourself to something nice – our latest collection has just dropped and is available now in-store. We also recommend taking a trip out on the water with an estuary cruise, before finishing your day with a visit to our friends at Salcombe Gin Distillery for a tipple or two – cheers!

City Break: A trip to Exeter

The capital of Devon and the home to our flagship store, Exeter is a must-visit when heading down to the South-West. Steeped in history, from hidden passages to incredible architecture, there’s a plethora of activities and sights to explore.

Exeter’s cathedral is one not to miss, towering over the city for over 1000 years. the magnificent building is a standout for visitors. With guided tours or the chance to wonder for yourself, you’ll be truly mesmerised by the grandeur and scale of the building. And if history is your thing, then you’ll find the Underground Passages fascinating. Carved out to house the pipes to transport drinking water into the city during the medieval days, they now stand as a tourist attraction like no other. The dark, twisting walkways are thought to be the only ones of their kind in Britian that are open to the public – a truly unique experience. And lastly, finish off your day by heading to the Quayside. It’s the perfect place to go for food and drinks, with lively bars and restaurants, as well as quaint independent shops. Sat alongside the water of the River Exe, it’s a lovely spot to relax and unwind.
