Louis Bever takes our rugby shirt out on match day in London.
You know the story: back in 1993, in a small seaside town called Salcombe, our now-iconic rugby shirt was born. 25 years later, it’s still a firm favourite far and wide. It represents our longstanding sartorial coastal heritage, as well as our affinity to British sport (bonus points if you’ve got a 90s original).
To celebrate a rugby-filled February (and this wardrobe hero) we’ve teamed up with Devon-born, London-based photographer, Louis Bever to shoot our shirt his way.

Starting off with a brekkie stop at one of North London’s most notorious not-so-greasy spoons, Norman’s Café. It’s located in leafy Tufnell Park and serves up proper British grub – we’re talking traditional fry-ups with crispy hash browns, eggs on toast with shiny orange yolks and no-frills chip butties, all cooked to Instagram perfection. Part of the charm is the nostalgic interior. It transports you back in time, with the 90s inspired décor adding to the simple authenticity of this caff (and the vintage feel our heritage rugbys). So, take note and head down when you’re next in the area, if you can get a seat that is – a little birdie tells us it’s quite the local hotspot…
A typical match day for many ends at the local. Nothing beats watching the game with friends (pint in hand, of course). The Faltering Fullback near Finsbury Park is Louis’s pub of choice – a truly iconic institution that’s often packed with supporters on a Saturday afternoon. The surroundings are filled with rugby memorabilia and archive photography of players, past and present. It’s clear to see that our rugbies have found a new home here. The reassuringly soft cotton, rubberised branded buttons, herringbone taped trims and zig-zag stitching – all authentic details taken straight from the pitch.
