The Crew team’s guide to beating the January blues
12 January 2024
Feeling the blues? We understand. This time of year can feel particularly glum after Christmas and the New Year celebrations. Perhaps you're overwhelmed at the thought of what 2024 has to bring, maybe you didn't achieve everything you set out to last year. It could even be that the frosty mornings and dark evenings are finally taking their toll. Well, there's no need to suffer in silence – our team are no strangers to the effects of the January Blues. We sat down with some who shared their top tips on how to get through the gloom and what they do to start feeling more upbeat.
Following a few of these simple suggestions could really make a difference in how you feel this month and beyond.
Following a few of these simple suggestions could really make a difference in how you feel this month and beyond.

1. Make plans and spend time with those you love. Our Email Developer, Lloyd, says for him, keeping busy and having your support system around helps him overcome the blues – we couldn't agree with him more! Plus, supporting others can also help to boost your own mood.

2. Although it's important to eat properly and stick to a healthy diet (especially after over-indulging over the festivities), you still need to enjoy the things you love. For our Retail Ops and Project Co-ordinator, Jake, that's a sugary treat. In moderation, of course…

3. Whether it be a holiday booked into your diary, like our Property Coordinator, Caroline, or a day trip a little closer to home, having something to look forward to is a great way to make these first few months a little less tedious. For us? A staycation to the coast always puts a smile on our faces.

4. And lastly, our Content Executive, Emilia, believes exercise is the most important thing to incorporate into your routine for tackling the gloom. Even 20 minutes of fresh air, whether it be a walk or a run around your local park, increases endorphins and helps you feel more energised. Plus, sticking to a routine makes you feel a whole lot more productive – give it a go!
